The Duke Pain ClinicThe understanding and treatment of patients with neuropathic pain necessitates an integrated approach from multiple specialties. Diagnostic procedures including electromyography, imaging studies, and psychological evaluations are integrated into a complete neurological assessment.
Treatment modalities include multiple pharmacological modalities, psychiatric intervention, peripheral nerve and sympathetic block, stereotoxic central procedures, and other neurosurgical procedures. The Duke Pain Clinic employs a multidisciplinary approach with input from anesthesia, neurosurgery, psychiatry, psychology, and neurology to facilitate appropriate diagnosis and treatment. Resident electives are available. All residents gain exposure to the evaluation and treatment of pain during inpatient and outpatient experiences.
