How to ApplyPrerequisites to Training in Adult Neurology
Internal medicine experience (a PGY-1 year) is a prerequisite to PGY-2 training in neurology. Requirements are determined by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology . All Duke internal medicine preliminary year slot applications are done through ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service). Medical internship can be completed through the excellent program at Duke or elsewhere. Beginning with the 2008-2009 match, all Duke Adult Neurology residents will be able to match for a Medicine preliminary year through an advanced program listing.
Neurology Program Interviews
Neurology Residency Program interviews are granted after a completed application is reviewed by the Residency Selection Committee. We accept applications from the Electronic Residency Application Service. If you have any questions regarding your application, you may contact Ms. Gina Murray, Administrator, Neurology Training Programs, Box 3637, Durham, North Carolina 27710. We encourage you to submit your application early as our interview slots are limited. Our deadline for receiving applications from ERAS is October 16, 2009. We will have 5-interview days; November 17 and and November 19 and December 1, 3, and 10, 2009. The day includes short interviews with multiple faculty, a tour of Duke Hospital, lunch with the residents, and faculty presentations on subspecialty interests within the Division of Neurology. The normal interview day lasts from 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
One Pediatric Neurology position is available per year and the first year of that residency is Adult Neurology (apply through the Division of Pediatric Neurology, Department of Pediatrics). |
