Epilepsy & Sleep Disorders

PROGRAM DIRECTOR: Dr. Aatif M. Husain

Duration of Fellowship: 1 year

Prerequisite: Completion of an approved residency in Neurology.

Starting Date: July 1

Salary Level: PGY-5 or PGY-6

Goals and Objectives:
This fellowship emphasizes advanced training in epilepsy and sleep disorders management. Areas of focus are epilepsy surgery evaluations, medical management of complex epilepsy patients, and involvement with investigational therapies for epilepsy management. Emphasis will be placed on learing techniques of invasive monitoring and electrocorticography. Additionally, trainees will get experience with interpretation of polysomnograms and multiple sleep latency tests, as well as seeing patients with a wide spectrum of sleep disorders.

Evaluation:
The trainee will work directly with the faculty in the Epilepsy/Sleep Disorders Section daily with immediate feedback and formally evaluated by the Program Director twice during the academic year.
